A Guide To Motorcycling in Caerphilly
Caerphilly is a fairly small town but it’s located in some beautiful Welsh countryside and isn’t too far from the likes of Cardiff, so there are plenty of opportunities to get out and about on your bike.
One of our favourite routes is the journey from Caerphilly down to Pontprennau, on the outskirts of Cardiff.
The route takes you downhill from Caerphilly mountain through the countryside and only takes about 20 minutes, so makes for a nice short ride, although be wary of some of the tighter corners at high speeds.
Another popular ride is the route up to Llechryd, which takes in some of the amazing mountain scenery and winding roads of the local area, passing local towns and villages such as Pwllypant, Pengam, Abertysswg and Rhymney.
The route is about 17 miles long and features lots of good corners, but again, take care when handling these at speed.
Finally, for a quieter, but equally as beautiful ride, head to Jepson’s Pond via Gelligaer which is a nice idyllic stretch of road with little to no traffic.
