A popular route with the Chesterfield biking community, this rural, 40-mile route takes you through the heart of the Peak District National Park.
With a number of straight sections and uphill parts to the route, it’s a fun ride for riders of any skill. With beautiful scenery and straight-forward roads, be sure to give this route a look if you are in the area!. You’ll pass through Macclesfield once out of the Peak District National Park, so be sure to stop off for refreshments and rest if you need it before heading back on the road to Monk’s Heath.
Chesterfield- Matlock- Buxton- Hayfield- Baslow
If you’re looking for an even longer route, this looped journey takes you on a 77-mile ride which has a variety of backdrops and road conditions, including areas which seem a little mountainous.
There are a fair few bends and twists and turns, but nothing too drastic or dangerous. It makes for a great ride-out route with friends, and you can stop off and enjoy some of the more beautiful bits of the National Park if you like!
Be careful on some of the more rural roads, especially in bad weather, as there can often be mud or grass from tractors or rain washing the terrain onto the road. This can make driving conditions a little dangerous, so be vigilant.
