A short history of Kawasaki bikes
Kawasaki Heavy Industries Motorcycle and Engine Company is a division of Kawasaki Heavy Industries. This division produces everything from Kawasaki motorcycles to ATV’s, watercrafts and gasoline engines.
Despite Kawasaki’s history being traceable back to 1896, the brand’s Aircraft company didn’t start to mass produce motorbikes until the 1950s. They began the development and production of motorcycles in 1949 with the first bike being completed in 1952.
The first Kawasaki bike production began with an air-cooled, 148cc, OHV, four-stroke, single cylinder engine under the subsidiary, Meihatsu, with the bikes being branded Meguro. It didn’t take long for the credentials of Kawasaki bikes to be widely recognised. The B8M ‘Red Tank’ was built specifically for motocross championships and the H1R Racer even took the crown as the 1971 Grand Prix. From that point onwards, their reputation was on an incline. When the Kawasaki Ninja Sports series was launched in the 1980’s, it became such a hit with road racers everywhere that still today, upgraded and improved version and produced.
Kawasaki doesn’t just mean speed. In fact, the Vulcan cruiser series gives entry-level riders a cool and comfortable ride. They have also added the J300 scooter to its range.
