A Guide to Motorcycling in Carlisle
Carlisle is one of the oldest cities in the country, having been built by the ancient Romans to serve the forts along Hadrian’s Wall.
These days, it’s a great city for bikers, with the Lake District to the south, Scotland to the north, the Solway Coast out on the west and the North Pennines in the east, so it’s truly surrounded by beautiful scenery.
One of our favourite routes in the local area is the round trip from Penrith up through Carlisle into Scotland, through Lockerbie and Hawick before coming back across the border to the nearby village of Brampton, a journey which should take you over three hours and will take in some great scenery.
For a route that takes you right around the whole of Cumbria, including the Lake District and the county’s west coast, this loop heads all the way down to Kendal, before coming across to Whitehaven and back up to Carlisle, via Cockermouth and Egremont.
It’s quite a long journey, but worth it for the views and the roads and there are also plenty of places to stop off along the way if you wish.
If you’re looking to sell your motorbike in the Carlisle area, rather than going through all of the hassle of selling privately, why not enter your registration number above or click here to get started with your free valuation.
