Suzuki GSX-S750 (2017) Review

26th July 2017

The Suzuki GSX-S750 is the company’s latest model in naked sports bike, replacing the GSR 750. According to Suzuki, the GSX-S750 is the apex predator of naked bikes. Will the bike live up to expectations? Let’s take a look.

Specifications

The frame of Suzuki GSX-S750 is a mix of round tubing and D section, like the previous GSR model. The wheel base is longer by 5mm while the swingarm is new and tapered. The front suspension has 41 mm adjustable spring preload KYB inverted forks while the rear has single shock adjustable 7-way spring preload. The seat height is 820 mm, which is comfortable for all types of riders. The Suzuki GSX-S750 has an aggressive riding position as the rider has to lean forward.

The Suzuki GSX-S750 comes with Bridgestone S21 tyres, specifically designed according to the GSX-S750s suspension settings. The naked sports bike also comes with three-level traction control with the option to turn it off completely. The traction control will adjust the power output without changing the total power of the bike.

The front brakes are Nissin four-piston radial callipers while the rear brakes are one-piston calliper. The brakes are quite competent, even under heavy braking. Overall, the handling of the bike is agile and stable, making cornering a breeze. The capacity of the tank is 16 litres, with a range of 150 miles. The weight of the GSX-S750 is only 213kg.

Performance

The Suzuki GSX-S750 has a four-stroke, inline four and liquid cooled engine. The engine on the Suzuki GSX-S750 is a variant of the one on the 2005 GSX-R750. Unlike the older variant, pumping losses in the new version are low. The new engine meets the Euro4 regulations. The new up-to-date engine is capable of producing 112.4 bhp. Unlike the 2005 version, the new engine is more responsive and powerful. The engine is also capable of producing a torque of 59.7 ft-lb.

The exhaust which is 4-2-1, has balance pipes, allowing Suzuki to adjust the pressure waves for optimised power output. The fuel injectors have two more holes, which makes it ten per unit. There are additional holes in the airbox for increased intake of air. As a result of this, Suzuki GSX-S750 has a 750cc engine that complies with the emissions regulations. New riders will find the bike less intimidating as it produces the right amount of power. The bike satisfies experienced riders as the power is enough for the ride to be fun.

The engine now has Idle Speed Control (ISC) which is an assist function for low rpm. ISC will come into play and stops the bike from stalling when riding slowly or moving off.

Verdict

Overall, the Suzuki GSX-S750 is a brilliant all-rounder naked sports bike. Whether you want to take it to work every day or hit the road on the weekend, the GSX-S750 does it all. Even though the suspension isn’t completely adjustable, the ride is comfortable. The base price of the Suzuki GSX-S750 is £7,599.
